EXAMPLES OF MUSICAL AMPLIFICATION CABINET
CONSTRUCTION
CONSTRUCTION OF CABINETS FOR THE DOUBLETONE
LE RANGE OF AMPLIFIER HEADS.

Prior to assembly, all main components are drilled, grooved, rebated, etc, and dry-assembled. (Note the top quality birch ply
used.)

Components are glued, assembled, clamped, and then pressed.

Once the glue has dried, the edges can be machined to a radius and
sanded. The picture shows the 3mm groove for the piping - this is fitted and secured at the ends after the Tolex has been fitted.

An
example of a finished joint.

The cabinet is now ready for
the internal bracing, which is glued and pinned, using a high-pressure pneumatic gun.

Internal bracing fitted.

The
cabinet is now blacked-out with a water-based stain to all parts that are not covered with Tolex.

All remaining parts are covered with Tolex, the corners are riveted on,
and the handle is secured with machine screws fixed into tee-nuts previously secured into the top of the cab.

A piece of aluminium sheet is fitted to the top of the amp case as a grounding shield for the whole amplifier underside.
(All amps should be fitted with this!)

The
amplifier is fitted into the cabinet with machine screws and screw cups to protect the case.

Front panel is covered with
Tolex and fitted with tadpole and secured from behind.

Back panel is covered with
Tolex, fitted with the vent panel, and secured with cups and screws.
